Lionel Messi announces Messi Cup youth tournament in Miami

Under-16 players from Messi’s current MLS club, Inter Miami, his longtime squad, Barcelona, and his first club, Newell’s Old Boys from Argentina, will be featured.

They will be joined by players from Chelsea and Manchester City (England), River Plate (Argentina), Inter Milan (Italy) and Atletico Madrid (Spain) in the tournament.

The Messi Cup will be held Dec. 9-14 at Inter Miami’s facilities in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The opening day, third-place match and final will be played inside Chase Stadium.

“The future of the game will be on full display, and it’s more than just matches. We’ve got an incredible few days planned with lots of other exciting activities. This is about the next generation. Hope you like it! This is the #MessiCup.”

The Messi Cup aims to inspire players, ignite passion, and shape the future of football, Messi’s production company, 525 Rosario, said in a press release.
