Arch Manning spills details on viral traffic stop captured on internet

Texas quarterback Arch Manning was pulled over by police in Austin.
A photo of the traffic stop went viral on social media.

AUSTIN – Did you see that viral photo floating around social media this week of Arch Manning talking to a police officer with the window of Manning’s Denali rolled down?

It’s true. He got pulled over.

Manning spilled the tea and shared the details with reporters after No. 19 Texas’ 34-31 victory over No. 11 Vanderbilt. He got stopped after he advanced through a stopwalk while the light was still on solid red.

“It was a crosswalk, and it was a solid red, and no one was around, and I went,’ Manning said. ‘I guess someone was around.’

At least two people were around: the officer who stopped him, and the person who snapped the photo of Manning that then surfaced online.

“It was a little weird,’ Manning said of having his traffic stop documented on social media. ‘My first time getting pulled over in Austin. Didn’t help that I didn’t have my wallet on me, so I didn’t have my license.’

Manning received a warning and was not ticketed, a Texas athletics official confirmed to USA TODAY.

Quite a week for Manning.

He advanced through concussion protocol and emerged looking better than ever. Manning threw for 328 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. Manning suffered a concussion in last weekend’s overtime win against Mississippi State. By the next day, Manning felt confident he’d be OK to play against the Commodores. He gained medical clearance on Thursday to play against Vanderbilt, coach Steve Sarkisian said.

Manning had no trouble with Vanderbilt, but beware those traffic lights at crosswalks.
